Global Marketing Competition 2011

Global Marketing Competition 2011 is an international competition organised by ESIC Business & Marketing School aimed at students in their penultimate or final degree year, in postgraduate programmes, as well as students in MBA programmes or doctorates from public or private institutions. The participants will have the opportunity to strategically take decisions in all organisation areas demonstrating the theoretic knowledge learnt in the classroom.

It is an international competition that was created last year from the union of the globally recognised Business Marketing Game (with 14 editions and 1,100 participants), Global Marketing Game (8 editions and 1,312 participants), Latin Marketing Game (6 editions and 1,340 participants) and China Marketing Competition (2 editions and 590 participants).

More than 5,500 pre-university and post-graduate students demonstrated their knowledge during the previous GMKC edition. The second edition maintains its predecessors' values and so it can remain free it counts on the collaboration of more than 85 companies, among which we should emphasise the contribution of ABC and Santander, who have gone for this future that is now the present, which establishes its training bases by developing practical experience through the latest technologies.

The project has renewed itself and far from resting on its laurels, has known how to adapt itself to real business and academic needs to face the future with the same leadership guarantee as to date. In the words of Simón Reyes Martínez-Córdova, ESIC's General Manager “Marketing is essential today. This is why practical training is even more necessary for decision-making and teamwork."

What does the Global Marketing Competition contribute?

  • Applying knowledge to a market that is similar to a real one
  • Training in analysis and market research
  • Assessing the importance of making quantitative and qualitative decisions
  • Exercising responsibilities in risk situations
  • Encouraging team work

The main aim of the Global Marketing Competition is to be a closer liaison between the academic world and the business community beyond borders. Teachers and students have a state of the art test laboratory, which allows the participants to prepare themselves or be tested on the necessary points to tackle the business world. The results depend on the way we manage our company and it will be our decisions and those of our competition that determine these results. It has been more than 16 years since ESIC and ABC targeted training for professionals who, through a simulator, acquire skills and abilities that afterwards they apply in a real company. Hundreds of companies have collaborated to achieve this aim, giving scholarships that have made possible the involvement of thousands of university and postgraduates students. The best companies, those that trust the new generation of university graduates, finance student team participation of the simulator, so that they can therefore obtain the most current, skilled, creative training and a greater level of experience, which is so necessary for the development of their future profession. The Global Marketing Game is directed at company professionals (senior teams) and university students enrolled in private or public universities or business schools (junior teams).
