ESIC becomes a signatory to the initiative for a Diversity Charter

ESIC becomes a signatory to the initiative for Spanish Diversity of the Diversity Foundation, a project promoted by the European Commission and the Spanish Ministry for Equality. Through this participation, the Business School promises to respect the current regulations on equal opportunities and anti-discrimination.

The Charter's main aims are: to promote inclusion and anti-discrimination as mechanisms that improve the quality of life and of work, as well as contributing in the creation of innovation and efficiency to improve company sustainability in Spain.

ESIC, as a Diversity Charter signatory, promises to respect the current regulations on equal opportunities and anti-discrimination, assuming the following basic principles:

To progress in building up a diverse workforce: the company should encourage the integration of people with different profiles (independent of their gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnic providence, religion, beliefs, age, disability, etc.).

To encourage inclusion: the integration should be effective, avoiding any type of discrimination (direct or indirect) in workplace.

To weigh up the diversity of all staff management policies: diversity management should not be another human resources practice, but a transversal factor, which should be based on all decisions that are taken in this environment.

To encourage conciliation through a balance in the time for work, family and leisure: organisations should establish mechanisms that allow the harmonization of a working life with the personal and family life of all workers.

To recognise the diversity of clients: organisations should know their clients' profiles, recognising that their diversity is also a source of innovation and development.

To disclose this commitment to staff: the commitment that the organisation acquires on being a signatory to the Diversity Charter should be transversally shared by all the company.

To also disclose this commitment to suppliers, inviting them to join the Spanish community of companies that adhere to this voluntary commitment that the Charter promotes.

To encourage this commitment in administrations, business organisations, trade unions and other social agents.

To demonstrate activities that support non discrimination, as well as results that are being obtained by putting into practice these diversity policies in the company's annual report.

The signature for ESIC to participate in the Spanish Diversity Charter proves the commitment it has as an institution in encouraging a socially respectful, economically sustainable and rigorously legal environment.

As well as the Spanish Diversity Charter, there are 5 other Diversity Charters in the European Union (France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Spain) and several that are in the process of being set up. The Commission's medium term aim is for there to be Charters in each of the 27 European Union's member states.
