The 4th IMTA Alumni Conference on “Integrating Educational Materials into Teaching Strategy” was held on 20-23 May 2009 at the Faculty of Economics Podgorica, University of Montenegro.
The series of events, developed by IMTA management and alumni from Podgorica, included the International Teaching Week and the 4th IMTA Alumni Conference, while closely related to this was also a seminar on “Achieving Competitiveness in Times of Crisis”, held on 20 May at the Faculty of Economics.
During the International Teaching Week, held on 21-22 May, IMTA alumni had an exciting opportunity to give lectures to a group of students of three departments of the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica (Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurial Finance).

Judging by the peer evaluation, and above all by the reaction from the audience, the First International Teaching Week was very interesting and successful. The quality of the presentations was recognized also by a general recommendation to make those contributions available for a broader audience, particularly through the IMTA Alumni network.
The 4th IMTA Alumni Conference on “Integrating Educational Materials into Teaching Strategy” focused on the issues related to the development of local educational materials for use in the classroom. The keynote address provided by Prof Zbigniew Bochniarz, was based on Michael Porter’s program on Microeconomics of Competitiveness. Prof Bochniarz particularly emphasized those elements of the program that are based on the development of locally relevant case studies and/or consulting services offered by faculty involved. Being the co-chair for faculty recruitment to the MOC program, Zbigniew Bochniarz expressed his willingness to provide all necessary information to IMTA alumni who might be interested in attending this program at Harvard Business School.
Nikola Vulić and Vladimir Vulić delivered a very interesting presentation about “Understanding the World of Entrepreneurship in Montenegro and Methods of Teaching Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Economics, Podgorica”.
An integral part of the event was the IMTA Alumni Annual Meeting, in which participants had the opportunity to discuss past and future activities of the association and related organizational matters. IMTA alumni also discussed with the success of the faculty exchange programs organized by IMTA alumni in various countries and suggested IMTA Alumni Association be more active in this field as well as in the area of joint research, student exchange, and other forms of cooperation among IMTA alumni and their institutions. A good example of the networking potential of IMTA Alumni Association was a formal letter of invitation which Ekaterina Lisovskaya (IMTA 2008) from the Plekhanov Academy brought to the dean of the Faculty of Economics, Podgorica, to visit Moscow and discuss possible collaboration between the two institutions.
