On May 18, the winners of the Challenge:Future global student competition have been announced and the Gala and Awards ceremony held in Bled. The EUR 20,000 prize went to team Backcasters - Chen Sin Tan and Yen Ching Liew from National University of Singapore for their solution of a more efficient metro interior design.
Sandi Češko, President of the Board of Studio Moderna (Premiere Sponsor of Challenge:Future Finals), and futurist Joel Barker (Challenge:Future Advisory Board member and Gala keynote speaker), who both were also part of the Finals judging committee, announced the winners, who also got the opportunity to present their solution in front of about 200 Gala attendees, including business leaders, government representatives, and media, while the event was followed via live video transmission by about 1,500 viewers from all over the world.

Each of the winners have received a scholarship for Discover Management Program summer school at the IEDC-Bled School of Management.
National University of Singapore has also received the Most Innovative School award.
In its first year of existence, Challenge:Future, a global youth competition and online community for innovation and sustainability, has united over 14,000 students from close to 1,000 universities and more than 180 countries, exceeding all expectations of the three founders - Third Millennium Knowledge sustainability lab, IEDC-Bled School of Management and CEEMAN (all three based in Slovenia). The Finals that took place in Bled, Slovenia from May 14-18 consisted of a number of activities for the finalists and selected Challenge:Future community representatives, including many guest speakers, lectures and debates, outdoor activities, discussions on the future of the competition, and of course, the final presentations by the competitors.
