New fields of study at Kozminski Uni

Kozminski University is enhancing its dual studies. It has launched a new B.A. specialty “Management in the QSR (quick service restaurants) Sector”, which is dedicated only to McDonald’s employees. In addition to university classes, students will also attend workshops and internships at their employer.

Another new subject recently introduced at Kozminski University is “Health Economics and Big Data Analytics” (M.A.), which also gives students opportunities for internships at several cooperating companies. Participation of employers in educational process contributes significantly to the practical nature of the studies. Their graduates are usually hired by the cooperating companies.

KU opens the Bloomberg Laboratory

Students and lecturers of the bachelor and master programs in Finance and Accounting will benefit from a financial laboratory based on Bloomberg's technology. They will have access to the full-service and additional educational functions of the largest news agencies in the world.  – Thanks to this solution, the learning process at our university will be based on real analyses, indicators and information from all financial markets in the world. The same Bloomberg service is rendered to the biggest banks, financial institutions, businesses and media. This will further strengthen our educational offer – says Błażej Podgórski, Ph.D., a lecturer of finance and supervisor of the KU Bloomberg Laboratory.

The Bloomberg terminal, thanks to its specialized software, allows receiving information from financial markets in real time and provides access to historical data. Journalists from agencies based in 120 countries provide the information and business analyses on which the investment strategies are based for companies and financial institutions. The functions dedicated to universities also include the educational and research tools.

The 50th Anniversary ISAGA Conference

About 200 academics and experts participated in the 50th Anniversary International Simulation and Gaming Association Conference ISAGA 2019 that was held at Kozminski University on 26-30 August 2019. During five days scholars from many countries presented their new accomplishment in the gaming domain, including research projects, technology, evaluation, facilitation, debriefing, and design, discussed the effectiveness of simulation games, gamification and retention of knowledge supported by various applications.

Researchers showed projects contributing to social development, like urban games on environmental issues, choosing public transport, business simulations, recruitment games and numerous educational applications for students. The Kozminski University team showcased also its own “Cicero” game aimed improving quality of business presentations that includes the VR goggles. According to Marcin Wardaszko, Ph.D., the ISAGA 2019 Conference organizer, it is the educational approach that makes simulation games and gamification stand out among many games focused merely on entertainment or on e-sport competitions.
