EU Recognition for the RTU Bachelor and Master Programmes - Administration of Customs and Taxes

Riga Technical University (RTU) Professional Bachelor`s and Master`s programmes «Administration of Customs and Taxes» have received recognition from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union. European Commission recognises the programmes delivered by the RTU International Business and Customs Institute of the Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management as high-quality Customs related programmes that are in line with the EU Competency Framework for the Customs profession.

The Certificate of Recognition is an EU label of excellence for high-quality, modern customs study programmes that equip students with the competencies needed for a successful Customs career, both in Customs Administrations and private organisations.

RTU is the only educational institution in Latvia that delivers internationally recognized study programmes «Administration of Customs and Taxes». The programmes were developed in cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the State Revenue Service of Latvia. Previously, the programmes have also received the WCO Recognition as a state-of-the-art customs study programmes.

According to the EC Recognition Decision, the RTU Bachelor’s programme «Administration of Customs and Taxes» can be considered as one of the best Customs Bachelor’s programmes in the EU.

The official statement says: «The European Commission recognizes The Bachelor’s and Master’s in Administration of Customs and Taxes academic programmes, delivered by the Riga Technical University, Latvia, as high-quality customs-specific study programmes, that are in line with the EU Competency Framework for the Customs profession and its associated EU Reference Training Programmes for Academic Customs Education».

In the 2021 cycle the EC Recognition was also awarded to the University of Antwerp (Belgium), University of Liège (Belgium) and Maastricht University (The Netherlands). The EC recognized the Master's programmes delivered by these universities. Both, Master’s and Bachelor’s programmes of Riga Technical University received the Recognition Certificates.

International Business and Customs Institute of Riga Technical University provides internationally recognized customs education and training and conducts research in the fields of international economic relations, transportation, customs and taxation.
