Profesor Aleksander Orłowski from Gdansk University of Technology, Faculty of Management and Economics was appointed to the team developing the new National Urban Policy. The team operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy and the Institute of Urban and Regional Development. The scientist is a member of the group dealing with the digitization of city management.

‘The National Urban Policy is addressed to all Polish cities. Its main goal is to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants. The document contains a wide range of solutions, tools and instruments that can be flexibly used by cities of all sizes and locations. Its task is to indicate where and how it is possible to increase the effectiveness of public institutions, as well as private and social ones, so as to achieve the goals of urban policy more efficiently.’ - says the website of the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy.

Prof. Aleksander Orłowski will attempt, among others to make cities more friendly to residents and attractive to entrepreneurs to do their business. Urban agglomerations are to enable development on a regional and local scale. This will be helped by the developed recommendations on counteracting spatial chaos, involving residents in city management, creating sustainable urban mobility, and undertaking low-emission and energy efficiency measures in cities.
