The International Management Teachers Academy (IMTA) is a major hub for development of management university teachers. The 16th edition of IMTA concluded this Thursday with 36 participants from 19 countries, who came to improve their competences in various aspects of management education.

The purpose of IMTA, organized by CEEMAN every June and hosted by IEDC-Bled School of Management at the Alpine lake resort of Bled, is to address the need for faculty development in the area of management education and leadership development.

Under the masterful guidance of highly experienced international faculty, IMTA helps the participants to enhance their teaching methodologies, materials and skills; provides valuable feedback on participants’ own teaching techniques; as well as shares some of the personal “tips and tricks” of the teacher’s profession. According to many alumni, IMTA was a major milestone in their teaching careers, and gave start to many new joint projects and lasting professional connections.

The program faculty include internationally renowned professors from the best business schools around the world: Prof. James C. Ellert, IMD, Switzerland and IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia (Academic Director of IMTA); Prof. Joe Pons, President of AXIOMA Marketing Consultants, Spain; Prof. J.B. Kassarjian, IMD, Switzerland and Babson College, USA; Prof. Krzysztof Obloj, School of Management at Warsaw University, and Kozminski University, Poland; and Prof. Arshad Ahmad, McMaster University, Canada.

This year, IMTA was attended by 36 participants from 19 countries: Albania, Bahrain, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, France, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom. They are joining over 500 participants from 46 countries and more than 150 institutions around the world who have attended the program so far.

The IMTA Alumni network facilitates mutual communication and cooperation among its alumni and their institutions, while also serves as a platform through which CEEMAN continues providing support to management teachers in their personal, professional and institutional development. In the last years, IMTA has also welcomed participants from non-management disciplines, which proved to be an enriching experience.

IMTA graduation, as a tradition, has also welcomed ambassadors and honorary consuls from some of the countries represented in the program, while the concluding dinner with the participants took place at the Bled Castle with breathtaking views over the lake.

The next edition of IMTA will take place in June 2016, early applications are encouraged (info@ceeman.org).

IMTA faculty say:

In most business schools, teaching skills are taken for granted, with little time or effort invested in training people in the kinds of skills that will help them to perform well in the classroom. IMTA strikes at the very core of a need that more and more business schools have and are beginning to recognize.
Joe Pons, IMTA faculty member, Spain

IMTA is a safe environment in which one can practice, debate with peers, and develop new levels of skills, as well as new attitudes for teaching.
Krzysztof Obłój, IMTA faculty member, Poland

IMTA 2015 participants say:

The most inspiring experience for my professional development. Thank you!
Daniela Mihailescu, Jönköping International Business School, Sweden

A great experience, something that I have learned a lot from, highly applicable and something that I would recommend to all of my colleagues. One of the best experiences in my career.
Mislav Radić, Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb, Croatia

My expectations were surely exceeded in many aspects: professional delivery of class material, passion of our teachers, openness and positiveness of colleagues plus very well structured program. What can be better? Thank you!
Ieva Kvedaravičienė, ISM University of Management and Economics, Lithuania
