Today, being in quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, business is faced with challenges previously unknown. Both global conglomerates and tiny enterprises are experiencing stress, shock and confusion. KROK Business School (Ukraine, Kyiv), always responding in time to changing circumstances and the business climate, organized a series of activities in April-May 2020 aimed at studying new circumstances and finding optimal solutions for the functioning of Ukrainian enterprises.

As part of the World Creativity and Innovation Week, an online panel discussion was held “Is there life after strategy or Innovation in business”, where KROK Business School instructors and representatives of the public sector discussed how to develop business and individuals in an era of changes. In May, another online panel discussion, “Quarantine Lessons for Business: A Route Map of the New Reality”, took place, at which business representatives and instructors shared their insights how the business environment has changed in a pandemic and how enterprises, owners and employees work in new conditions.

BSK presented the results of the survey “How Quarantine Affected Business,” conducted during March and April 2020. Based on the results received we can  track the main trends:

  • 40% of Ukrainian companies completely or partially stopped their work during quarantine, and 60% continue working in new conditions
  • 52% of enterprises involve staff in work processes and pay full salaries, 14% of enterprises decided to send employees on vacation at their own expense
  • 53% of enterprises noted a decrease in demand for their goods and services, and 10% believe that demand has increased
  • 73% of the management of Ukrainian companies responded to quarantine on time and implemented anti-crisis tools so that enterprises could continue to work
  • 89% of companies believe that they will be able to fully restart their activities after quarantine cancellation
  • 76% of respondents said they use quarantine as an excellent time for training.

Based on the results of this survey, the instructors of the KROK Business School have the opportunity to update the programs taking into account the trends that have emerged, to develop methodologies for anti-crisis business management, work with staff and partners, effective organization of work in a remote mode, etc.

Thanks to timely and relevant panel discussions, the KROK Business School maintained and strengthened interest in its activities, was able to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs and company employees in the face of ambiguity, and, of course, qualitatively provided the educational process in online mode, MBA, Mini MBA, Master of Global Business Management, Master of Mediation and Conflict Management Program, and others.
