Professor Bogusława Drelich-Skulska from the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business became a member of the Board of Trustees of IHI Zittau

With great satisfaction, the WUEB announces that Professor Bogusława Drelich-Skulska, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, became a member of the Board of Trustees IHI Zittau (Kuratoriums des IHI Zittau) for the years 2021-2024.

Professor Bogusława Drelich-Skulska graduated from Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (former Oskar Lange Academy of Economics) at Faculty of National Economy in 1986. She obtained her doctorate degree in 1992 for a research and dissertation titled "South Korean export-oriented development strategy" and a postdoctoral degree in 2002 for her academic achievements and postdoctoral dissertation titled "Japan's foreign economic policy at the turn of the 21st century". In 2012, she presented her monograph titled "Economic Regionalism in East Asia. One view - different dimensions" (published by The Publishing House of the Wroclaw University of Economics), based on which she conferred the title of professor in economics.

Her scientific research interests involve international trade relations, international business, and development economics, with particular attention paid to economic policy issues in selected South-East Asia. Her research activities are also focused on shaping economic regionalism in South-East Asia from the macroeconomic and microeconomic perspective in the XXI century and the EU regional development based on the example of the Lower Silesia region (Dolny Slask).

Professor Bogusława Drelich-Skulska, mainly as a research project leader, participated in the projects financed by Jean Monnet Programme, Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, and The National Science Centre. She is an author and editor of 8 monographs and over 100 scientific articles devoted to the economic and political processes in Asia. She was a framer and organizer of the international conference series titled "Asia-Pacific". From 2007, those events constitute a platform for an international debate about the economic, political, and social issues in this region. She was a lecturer in many foreign universities worldwide, including Switzerland, Japan, Australia, Estonia, Great Britain, and the United States. Professor Bogusława Drelich-Skulska already promoted 14 doctors, and currently, she supervises 3 Ph.D. candidates.

Functions at the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business:

  • Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation (2016-2020 and 2020-),
  • Head of the Department of International Business at the Faculty of Economics and Finance,
  • Director of the International Cooperation Office at the WUEB (2012-2016),
  • Vice-Dean for Didactics and Full-Time Studies at the Faculty of Economic Sciences (2005-2012).

Member of national and international associations:

  • Polish Society for International Studies,
  • Polish Economic Society,
  • European Association for South-East Asian Studies (EUROSES),
  • AACSB Innovation Committee (since 2019),
  • Kuratoriums des IHI Zittau (since 2021).
