Case writing competition

CEEMAN is happy to announce its 16th Annual Case Writing Competition and invites authors to participate. Following CEEMAN's objective of promoting the development of high-quality case material relevant for the realities of transitional and emerging economies and at the same time promoting the development of case-writing capabilities in those countries, the eligibility for the competition is not limited to CEEMAN members only. 

Requirements

Submitted cases must be:

  • not registered at any case clearing houses yet
  • based on primary research and on a real business situation in a real company
  • usable for executive programs and MBA-level students
  • released for publication by the management of the company or individuals included in the case
  • written in English and easy to follow
  • maximum 12 pages long (12-point Times New Roman font, single-space narrative) plus exhibits, appendices, and bibliography of resources
  • accompanied by a case teaching note and case synopsis

Please consult the competition evaluation criteria before submitting the case for the competition. You might also find useful some instructional materials provided in the end of this announcement.

Copyright

CEEMAN and Emerald reserve the right to publish the cases submitted for the competition, but do not have any other claims for the copyright.

Prize

The author of the best case will be awarded a CEEMAN/Emerald prize of €1,500 plus

  • possibility of publishing the case in one of Emerald journals
  • free participation in the 18th CEEMAN Annual Conference, to be held on 23-25 September 2010 in Naples, Italy
  • free accommodation at the conference hotel for up to three nights
  • reimbursement of travel costs up to €500

If a winning case has more than one author, the prize will be split among the co-authors (the prize may be subject to local taxes).
CEEMAN will also make available the summary of the case and teaching notes evaluation grades and comments to the authors who are interested to get the feedback from the CWC Jury.

To enter the competition, please send your case with the teaching note and filled-in application form by email ceeman@iedc.si.

Authors notified about the competition results: 5 September 2010
Case Writing Competition Award: 24 September 2010 in Naples, Italy
