CEEMAN’s IMTA (International Management Teachers Academy) program provides a unique opportunity for young faculty to improve their teaching skills, methods, and mat
erials, and includes teaching using cases, case writing, course design, curricula development, and performance evaluation and feedback to students. The program is also designed to improve competences and skills integral to specific managerial disciplines, and provides input essential in other areas of a faculty member’s professional life, such as consulting, institution development and administration, and social responsibility.
The exchange of ideas and experience with colleagues from other countries is also an invaluable source of learning, and an effective instrument in establishing professional contacts and networks, additionally enhanced via the IMTA Alumni Association.
According to post-program feedback received by IMTA participants and their institutions, the effects of the program go far beyond individual professional career development. Its benefits also include an impact on the participants’ institutions and their respective stakeholders.
The most frequently stated program results are:
“IMTA is a creative response to the needs related to the economic transition and social transformation processes … and is doing an excellent job” Independent international evaluation “I don’t know of another course like this. It’s a gem. To have so many distinguished professors to ourselves for two weeks – it’s unheard of in academia.”
Jason Cope, UK, IMTA 2003 alumnus“There is no doubt that IMTA has contributed a lot to ISM development already and will in the future. IMTA is number one on the list of our faculty development programs. I wish only the best for this program, its team, and you (Milenko Gudic, IMTA Director) personally. The value it produces in increasing teaching quality is really great.”
Nerijus Pačesa, President, ISM University of Management and Economics, Lithuania“Huge amount of knowledge and experience for my development and professional moves: in way and style of teaching, feedback content, techniques of working with audience etc. And... new wings for flying!”
Ekaterina Sumarokova, State University of Management, Russia, IMTA 2007 alumna
IMTA is an intensive and highly interactive two-week program with a well-balanced focus on general and discipline-specific aspects of management education. Week 1 focuses on common issues related to general aspects of management education, with special emphasis on the case method and project work. It also deals with the skills required in the multiple roles of faculty. Innovations in management development are discussed in the context of IT, project-based education, and the integration of the arts, culture, and science.
Week 2 is structured into four disciplinary tracks:
where participants can focus on requirements and opportunities more specific to their particular disciplines. Pre-program individual preparation and in-program lectures and discussions, individual preparation, small group discussions and teamwork, case discussions, simulations, role-play, presentations, and other work methods position IMTA participants at the center of the learning process.
A high-profile team of experienced, internationally-renowned professors share their personal experiences and the best practices of their prestigious institutions.

IMTA, as a program aimed at developing well-rounded management educators, has become a platform upon which complementary programs are being developed and implemented. In addition to the CME (Consultancy for Management Educators) program implemented in previous years, a new program will be offered in the period 2010-2012: the IMTA Educational Material Development Program, which consists of two modules: a Case Writing Module and a Research and Publishing Module. The two can be taken in parallel, one after another, or separately.
Further programs and activities provide continuous support to IMTA alumni, and include the projects and events organized by the IMTA Alumni Association.
Potential participants may apply by submitting:
A working knowledge of English and at least two years of relevant teaching experience are the minimum requirements for applying to the program.
Shortlisted candidates are interviewed before final selection, and final admission to the program is determined by the Admission Committee.
Fees (for 2010 edition)
The above tuition fees are already substantially subsidized by OSI-HESP. The fees do not include meals, accommodation and travel expenses.
