During the five-month field work and research drafting period, participants carry out field and related research, write research papers, develop proposals on how to integrate their research results into new, research-based, educational material, and submit draft research papers and related educational material to their faculty coaches for review and feedback. Based on faculty feedback, participants refine the outcome of their research effort and develop the respective research-based educational material.

The 2-day concluding workshop includes: presentation of research results in small groups; peer and faculty critique; guidelines on getting research published; individual mentoring; and presentation to peers and faculty of selected research projects ready for publication.
