Kozminski University is pleased to announce an international workshop on “Business History in Central & Eastern Europe” and invites for panel and paper proposals. The workshop takes place at the Kozminski University on Friday and Saturday, October 25-26, 2019, jointly organized with the European Business History Association (EBHA).

In recent years, we are witnessing a “historical turn” in social sciences and organization studies and historical approaches are increasingly used in a number of academic fields. In addition, business history as a discipline begins to attract growing interest in many countries. The field has spread both thematically and conceptually as well as geographically. However, not all regions are equally present in this process and particularly Central & Eastern Europe still seems to be missing from international debate.

Despite a well-established historical community and a well-documented economic history with enormous potential contribution, the number of publications on Central & Eastern European in international business history journals remains limited. Young and aspiring researchers are facing multiple challenges such as scarcity or dispersion of archives and shallow historical culture resulting in a lack of wider interest on the side of companies and the wider public. The underlying idea of the workshop was that business history in Central & Eastern European might benefit from more international exposure, cross-country comparison and an interdisciplinary discussion about research methods and conceptual contributions.

The objective of the proposed workshop is to bring together researchers from various countries and fields with a keen interest in studying business history in Central & Eastern Europe. We also want to connect with established research groups in Western Europe. EBHA supports this process and wants to help develop business history in Central & Eastern Europe.

For registration simply send us an e-mail to: businesshistory@kozminski.edu.pl

The deadline for presentation proposals is September 15th, the final program will be repaired at the beginning of September.
