The publication presents an analysis of important internal and external EU energy policy. Author pays particular attention to aspects such as energy policy: the creation of competitive single energy market, energy security, energy solidarity between Member States, the diversification of energy sources and energy relations of the European Union in Polish with third countries.
The energy policy of European Union is a concept that is rather difficult to pin down. In general, it ncompasses legal, political, business as well as environment considerations. The variety of issues relevant for the Eu energy policy makes it almost impossible to discus every concept in detail. Therefore, for purpose of this publication some restrictions have to be introduced.
The fundamental question that this book is trying to answer, is whether an agreement can be reached regarding the need to develop a common European energy policy whether international (competitiveness and internal energy market) as well as external issues (security of supply, external policy) should be the core principles to underpin this pilicy? The answer is:yes, although such a process is a difficult and lenghty one. In fact, this book reviews the developments that have created the current state of the EU energy policy and discusses the prospects for further progress in the light of the challenges that still remain. These challenges inculde the slow process of creating an international energy market and the lack of common external energy policy, especially regarding the secutiry of supply and relations with third countries.
