CEEMAN Case Teaching and Case Writing Workshop, led by experienced IMTA faculty members, Prof. Jim Ellert and Prof. Joe Pons, was held from 17-20 October at Narxoz University, Almaty, Kazakhstan and brought together 27 participants from eight institutions in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Prof. Danica Purg, CEEMAN President is travelling to China and South Korea in October 2016, which opens a new chapter in the Association’s international endeavours and actively builds bridges in the dynamics societies.

On 28 September, the PRME Central and Eastern European Chapter has had its second meeting, deciding on the future steps of the Chapter as well as discussing the topic of Boosting Social Entrepreneurship through Management Education. Close to 50 participants from 16 countries joined the meeting.

The 24th CEEMAN Annual Conference “Management Education for a Digital World” took place in Tallinn, Estonia from 28-30 September, hosted by Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration (TSEBA). The participants had a chance to get to know the “digital world” at the innovative experiential workshop at e-Estonia and Ulemiste Technopolis and a number of internationally renowned speakers shared their insights and ideas in business and education panels.

With great sadness, we received the news of Prof. Madis Habakuk, CEEMAN Board member and one of the most dedicated pioneers of CEEMAN, passing away. These are the farewell words of prof. Danica Purg on behalf of CEEMAN at the commemorative ceremony of prof. Habakuk.

On 5 September 2016, Lviv Business School of Ukrainian Catholic University was awarded the International Quality Accreditation. Based on the self-assessment report and site visit to the school in July 2016, it was acknowledged that Lviv Business School is an innovative and unique business school, very relevant to the needs of society in its context.

In 2016 CLADES is celebrating the 51st Annual Assembly of CLADEA, an important date when academics, schools and faculties related to management, business, economics and administration get together during a whole day to share our know-how and expertise in the area of university education.

The call for submissions for the Case Writing Competition, organized for the ninth time in cooperation with Emerald Group Publishing, has just closed. Sixty-eight cases written by 141 authors and co-authors from 21 countries (Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and USA) were submitted for this year's competition. Among the case authors are five IMTA alumni and one IMTA faculty member. Fifteen authors are from CEEMAN member schools. The preparation of six cases involved international cooperation.

NARXOZ University, one of the leading economic universities in Kazakhstan, has been awarded the International Quality Accreditation. Based on the self-assessment report and site visit to NARXOZ University in May 2016, it was acknowledged that NARXOZ University provides excellent and relevant education offerings and research activities.

The 17th edition of CEEMAN’s IMTA-International Management Teachers Academy that hosted 25 participants from 14 countries, concluded on Thursday, 23 June with the graduation ceremony and a dinner at the spectacular Bled Castle. IMTA is a major hub for faculty development in the area of management education: close to 570 educators from 160 institutions and 49 countries around the world have completed IMTA since 2000.

On 1 June 2016, IEDC-Bled School of Management and CEEMAN received a visit of Dr. Chen Ning, the Executive Chairman of ITTN - International Technology Transfer Network based in China, and Board Partner of Green World Technological Development Co., Ltd., organized by Mr. Jure Tomc, CEO of JT Business Development Ltd (the official partner of ITTN in Central and Eastern Europe). They were received by Nenad Filipović, Academic Director of IEDC, Olga Veligurska, CEEMAN Director, Alenka Braček Lalić, CEEMAN Accreditation Director and Barbara Vilfan, Head of IEDC Operations.

We announce with great pleasure that the CEEMAN Board has been joined by Prof. Nicola Kleyn, dean of the Gordon Institute of Business Science in South Africa, and Dr. Xiaobo Wu, dean of the School of Management at Zhejiang University in China.

CEEMAN is happy to report building stronger ties with Asian schools. Last month, the Asian Institute of Management from Philippines (founded in 1968 by the Harvard Business School and academics as well as prominent business leaders of the Philippines) and now School of Management, Zhejiang University from China joined the CEEMAN family.

Forty-one program managers from 17 countries and 33 business schools and universities around the world came to Bled to attend CEEMAN’s Program Management Seminar from 13-15 April, hosted by the IEDC-Bled School of Management.

The PRME Chapter Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) held its 1st PRME Regional Meeting CEE on 18 - 19 April 2016 at RISEBA University in Latvia. During this meeting, 56 delegates from 19 PRME signatory business and management schools across Central and Eastern Europe came together to agree on a Constitution and Steering Committee, and to discuss ideas on the roles, activities, and events for the new PRME Chapter.

AACSB held its International Conference and Annual Meeting in Boston, USA from April 3-5. On the occasion of the conference, CEEMAN expressed its heartiest congratulations on the important milestone of AASCB, the 100th anniversary.

Following social and economic changes that have created new managerial and leadership challenges and development needs, CEEMAN Board on 18 March 2016, accepted a CEEMAN IQA Accreditation Framework which provides a new twist on accreditation of management education in recently emerged and emerging economies around the world.

On 15 and 16 February, research partners of the international research project “Management and Leadership Development Needs in Dynamically Changing Societies”, coordinated by CEEMAN, met for the first time at IEDC-Bled School of Management in Bled, Slovenia.
