"The Bees in the city" project was inaugurated on the fifth of April, 2022 and will be continued for the next few years. The project popularizes knowledge about the role of bees in the natural environment, because it is still not common knowledge, especially among the youngest. The campus of our University will be another urban space made available to bees. Besides the Faculty of Management of Częstochowa University of Technology, the project involves 10 educational institutions: primary schools and municipal kindergartens. Each of the selected institutions will create a patch in which students will sow honey plants. Each week there will be thematic educational activities. Kindergartens and schools will be visited by a beekeeper. The Rector of the Częstochowa University of Technology, Norbert Szczygiol, announced that the university will build an apiary with ten beehives, buy swarms of bees and hire a beekeeper. The apiary will be a visual educational element for children, thanks to which they will be able to observe the successive stages of honey production and even try it. The official opening of the apiary will take place in 2023. The project will be continued by connecting further educational institutions to it and creating new apiaries at workplaces and institutions in Czestochowa.
