We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Case Writing Competition. A total of 37 case studies were submitted this year from 12 countries. The aim of the CEEMAN & Emerald Case Writing Competition is to encourage and promote the development of high-quality teaching case material relevant for the realities of dynamic and emerging economies, and at the same time to promote the development of case-writing capabilities in those countries.

The judging panel consisted of Leif Sjoblom (IMD, Switzerland), Alfred Rosenbloom (Dominican University, USA) and Shalini Rahul Tiwari (IMT Ghaziabad, India). We are very grateful for their time and expertise in judging this competition.

The winning cases are:

Winner - Bon Voyage: A Vacation from Food Wastage

Virginia Bodolica, American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

"We are truly delighted to have won the first place in the 2023 CEEMAN & Emerald Case Writing Competition! It is a great honor to receive this prestigious award and an important recognition of our dedication to and support of the case method for teaching and learning purposes. The case study we developed tackles a critical issue of food wastage, which affects mainly the hospitality industry in many countries around the world. In an era of sustainability where governments are striving to achieve the gold of zero hunger, addressing this grand challenge is essential for the future sustainable development of global societies. We are hopeful that our case will not only spread awareness about the issue of food wastage, but also provide beneficial learning outcomes and key takeaways for students in the classroom that can be extrapolated to similar situations in real business settings."
