Important strategic issues of the development of the University were considered, meetings were held with the staff of the University. We are pleased to announce that the ranks of the members of the Board of Trustees of AlmaU have been replenished with new faces: Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the VII convocation, graduate of the Higher School of Business AlmaU (MBA and DBA programs), General Director of ASPARA MUNAY LLP Andrey Grigoryevich Linnik, country representative of the UN Global Compact in Kazakhstan, the first Kazakh woman who studied at Stanford, as well as an expert on the topic of sustainable development and ESG Dinara Nurlanovna Seydzhaparova and CEO Altyn Samruk Qazaqstan, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as a senior manager in the largest holdings and companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a graduate of the EMBA program Nazarbayev University & Duke's Fuqua Business School Pazylkhair Gulbanu Tazhibaevna.
This meeting of the joint venture is significant and the change of leadership. The current Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Zhanat Berdalina, handed over her post to Erkin Tatishev, who has been a member of the joint venture for 10 years. Zhanat Kolanovna has been the Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees for the last 6 years and has made a significant contribution to the development of the Board of Trustees and corporate governance in general at the University. Zhanat Kolanovna accepted an invitation to become an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of Almaty Management University. “I was the Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees for 6 years, a member of the SP for 9 years. Now it's time to hand over the reins of power,” said Zhanat Berdalina. One of the most important functions of the chairman of the board of trustees is to represent the interests of the organization or institution he chairs. He is also responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the board and assisting in setting strategic goals and action plans to achieve these goals.
“The hardest thing is to come up with something new. We understand that higher education is in the process of transformation and innovation. Even large universities with resources are suffering now. And for AlmaU the questions are “Who are we? Where we are going?" should become main point. It is necessary to become a university that is not afraid to try: new methods, new options, new approaches,” said Yerkin Tatishev, the new chairman of the joint venture, at a meeting with the university staff. The Board of Trustees plays an important role in the development of the university. It represents the highest governing body of the university and is responsible for making decisions on key issues related to the management of the university and its development. The SP defines strategic goals and develops action plans to achieve them, as well as appoints the rector and approves key financial documents.
