We are pleased to announce that International Quality Accreditation was awarded to Institute of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship, Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin (hereinafter: IPAE UrFU). Based on the site visit to IPAE UrFU in October 2016, it was acknowledged that IPAE UrFU is leading academic and teaching institution in the field of public administration, public relations, entrepreneurship and management oriented towards solving relevant tasks of innovation development of the Ural Federal Region and the country in general.

Based on the self-assessment report and site visit to the institute, it was recognized that IPAE UrFU maintains three main missions of higher education, which are: knowledge creation (research), knowledge transfer (education) and service to society. IPAE UrFU is an example of good practice where these three missions are equally distributed within IPAE’s activities and operations.

With regards to knowledge creation, IPAE UrFU is strong in combining academic and practice-oriented research with education. Its research activities have practical impact on teaching, and its research findings are endeavoured in study programmes. IPAE UrFU research groups have won several times national and international competitions and received several research grants. Also Thompson Reuters included IPAE UrFU scientific magazine “University Management: practice and analysis” into the collection of best Russian scientific magazines RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index), on the Web of Science platform.

Considering knowledge transfer, IPAE UrFU balances between practical approach and academic quality, based on a large extent of own research of IPAE’s faculty members. All programs are developed according to market requirements and include special module through which students are exposed to practical experience and gain practical skills and competences. Input for curricula development comes from employers, entrepreneurs and top specialists in the study field of program. Internship is an obligatory part of bachelor and master curricula.

IPAE UrFu also serves to society and provides scholarships for disabled and socially disadvantaged students. Also, social innovation has been developed, including projects with volunteers, strongly supported by the institute. Students are heavily engaged with social innovations projects oriented to older people, marginalized groups of Ekaterinburg’s citizens (mothers in prison), etc.

Innovative approaches of IPAE UrFU could be found through different standards (e.g. competitive performance system of academic staff; submission of new study program to employers for evaluation; social innovations projects where students are heavily engaged with local environment and its social challenges; double study programs with Latin America; programs for young scientists; several extracurricular activities provided for students; career and internship support).

Based on these findings, CEEMAN Accreditation Committee on 9 January 2017 awarded Institute of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship, Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin International Quality Accreditation.

“CEEMAN IQA Accreditation is not only acknowledgement of excellence and relevance of our institute, but a very powerful impulse to improve our curricula and research activities in a way of further development of IPAE as academic and scientific institution. We are sure that this new status will help us find a number of possibilities in such spheres as academic mobility and double degrees programs, programs for researchers and, of course, acquire new skills and knowledge for our students, faculty members and staff. CEEMAN IQA is like a new horizon in IPE lifecycle that provokes positive changes in our development. We deeply appreciate the contribution and input we have received from CEEMAN IQA Peer Review Team and CEEMAN IQA Accreditation Committee for our future development as highly regarded institution”.
