CEEMAN International Quality Accreditation awarded to NARXOZ University

NARXOZ University, one of the leading economic universities in Kazakhstan, has been awarded the International Quality Accreditation. Based on the self-assessment report and site visit to NARXOZ University in May 2016, it was acknowledged that NARXOZ University provides excellent and relevant education offerings and research activities.

NARXOZ University is one of the leading economic universities in Kazakhstan, established in 1963, which currently has more than 7.000 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 90.000 Alumni.  



Based on the self-assessment report and site visit to NARXOZ University in May 2016, it was acknowledged that NARXOZ University provides excellent and relevant education offerings and research activities. With regards to excellence in education, the university is a leading higher education institution in Kazakhstan in 6 academic specializations (Economics, Finance, Accounting, HRM, Statistics and Business education). It should be highlighted that the university’s educational programs were top rated by the Independent Rating of Universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2016. Moreover, in the general ranking of universities in the category “Economics and Business” NARXOZ University was ranked as the second one in 2016 (among fifty-one 
Kazakh universities). NARXOZ University is also highly innovative in educational process and technology. There are numerous activities targeted at innovations, such as: master classes, Business incubator for students (first commercial incubator in Kazakhstan), development of e-learning and blended programs, MOOCs integration into teaching, flipped classroom, competence based approach, diploma project instead of theoretical thesis for undergraduate study programs, increased internationalization.



In connection to excellence in research, it was recognized that the university provides impact based research and the research activities are clearly a value within NARXOZ University, both academic and applied. In the last 5 years, 55 monographs have been prepared and published, citation index of the university’s publications is rapidly growing, the university has its own scientific journal - NARXOZ Bulletin. Generation of intellectual property rights is another indicator showing R&D progress of the university. The university namely received 26 IPRs in the period from 2011 to 2015.

With regards to relevance, the university is a very socially responsible institution which is fully aware of the needs of its environment and responds to these needs with relevant educational offerings and research activities. Serving to society is one of the university’s key priorities which was during accreditation site visit demonstrated by the University’s numerous activities, such as: scholarships for disadvantaged students; advanced examination centre as a tool to combat plagiarism; integration of ethics in curricula of study programs; university reaches out to kids living in the neighbourhood with cultural and sport programs; close cooperation with the corporate world, local and international society; majority of students find employment immediately after graduation.

Based on these findings, CEEMAN Accreditation Committee on 8 July 2016 awarded NARXOZ University the International Quality Accreditation.
