Autumn was a busy period for the Alliance of Management Development Associations in Rising Economies. A number of steps were undertaken contributing to stronger visibility of the Alliance initiative globally, preparing Bylaws, and deciding on the course of action for the next year.

The Alliance signals a new era of cooperation among business schools in rising economies, who share similar values and challenges, with the aim to create synergies and bigger impact on management education around the world. It is intended to add value to management schools located in rising economies by providing new opportunities for associations to work closely together. Within schools, key segments include rectors, deans, directors and management teams, faculty, students and alumni.

In September and October, the Alliance* and its objectives were presented at three partner events: 28th CEEMAN Annual Conference, BMDA Annual Conference, and 55th CLADEA Annual Congress, receiving enthusiastic support from member schools.

In their meeting on 13 November 2020, Alliance partners have discussed the focus of activities for the coming year, including particular emphasis on information and experience exchange (for which the Alliance website will be launched in early December), synergies among partner events and activities, as well as organization of dedicated webinars and online discussions for the Alliance member schools. Possibility of a joint research project is also being discussed to provide relevant, up-to-date, and applicable insights for management educators, business leaders, and wider society. The first Alliance online event is being planned for early 2021.

Bylaws of the Alliance were approved, outlining principles of operations and governance. The Alliance Board will provide overall direction and key decisions on activities, while implementation of various projects will be carried out under the leadership of respective committees to encourage broader engagement of all Alliance partners. Advisory Board, with invited individuals who substantially contributed to the Alliance, will support the Alliance Board in their work. CEEMAN President Danica Purg was appointed as President of the Alliance starting from 1 January 2021, with Alliance headquarters hosted by CEEMAN in Slovenia for the next two years.
