Special inauguration of the academic year of the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw

During the inauguration of the academic year at the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw, Minister Halina Szymańska, Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, awarded state decorations on behalf of the President of Poland to distinguished employees of the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw.

The following were awarded: the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta prof. dr hab. Maria Sierpińska - "for services in the development of science". The Bronze Cross of Merit by prof. dr hab. Piotr Szczepankowski: "for exemplary, extremely diligent performance of obligations arising from professional work". The gold medal for many years of service was honored: prof. dr hab. Ryszard Stachowski and prof. dr hab. Witold Dobrołowicz.

Change of University’s authorities and a new campus

This special event was accompanied by the change of authorities. After 18 years of cooperation with prof. dr hab. Maria Sierpińska handed over the office of the Rector to dr Konrad Janowski. We also have new Vice Rectors: dr hab. prof. UEHS Anna Llanos-Antczak, who took the position of Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, dr hab. prof. UEHS Piotr Szczepankowski took the office of Vice-Rector for Education and dr Marcin Staniewski became the Vice-Rector for Science. Vizja Business Schools has a new Director Dean of Economic Studies in one-person: dr hab. prof. UEHS Grzegorz Gołębiowski.

This is also the first academic year to be held in a new campus. It is a brand-new building equipped with new most modern and top-quality infrastructure. Our students have at their disposal a campus with a total area of 30,000 m2, 93 classrooms and 5 large lecture halls. Students and lecturers can now enjoy working and studying in comfortable conditions in diverse didactic and research rooms. Main assembly hall for over 460 seats gives opportunity to arrange lectures, conferences and other events using most modern equipment. The campus has also two assembly halls for over 220 seats and two for nearly 300 seats are best for lectures, conferences and other events. Nine rooms for approx. 100 seats, seventeen rooms for approx. 50 seats, twenty-four rooms for approx. 30 seats fills-up didactic rooms. Eight computer laboratories supplied with brand-new high-performance computer stuff and software. We also have a two-level library, with a reading room of about 800 m2, two sports halls, a hotel and a restaurant. Our new building is fully adapted for disabled people. It makes our campus a perfect place to study, research and work.
