You are kindly invited to read the notes on the BMDA Pre-Conference e-hosted by MIM-Kyiv.

Virginijus Kundrotas, Vice-President of the Adizes Institute (USA) and president of the BMDA, Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive – AMBA & BGA, and Dipak Jain, President (European) of CEIBS, well-renowned business education experts together with the representatives of business and business education were discussing how to thrive under the new conditions and how business education can flourish in the “new normal”.

Iryna Tykhomyrova, president of MIM-Kyiv said: “When we were planning to participate in the BMDA conference in Tallinn we could not even think about how the situation could develop.  We are proud to offer our online experience and help the BMDA to organize and conduct the pre-conference. It was not easy. However, partnerships helped us to implement this daring project. We learned that our partnership is a source of competitiveness for all of us”.

All presentations demonstrated that COVID-19 is creating a new norm and is affecting all elements of our lives. With business disruption, business schools’ role is expanding. They turned out to be the catalysts and moderators of change due to their unique role as a bridge between business, public sector, and academia. By creating platforms for discussion of the most pending issues and by its own example business schools are becoming true leaders of changes.

A lot of things could be done online. Business schools turned out to be much tech-savvier than they expected.  New businesses technology-oriented businesses are on the rise. However, there is still a powerful human element in what we do. Striking the balance between technological and human is critical for staying competitive regardless of the fast-changing environment.

Dr. Virginijus Kundrotas, the Vice-President of the Adizes Institute (USA) and president of the BMDA said: “Our lives are rooted in changes and we need to be always ready for it. To prepare for that, we need to analyze data and do forecasting. However, we might never know, what and how exactly the changes will happen. There are many things beyond our control, such as global aspects, other people’s decisions, that affecting us and the people, who we work with.

We need to be open and ready to everything that the world presents to us. To do that well we have to cooperate. That is why it is critical to identify both the challenges we are facing and the skillset, crucial for our competitiveness in the world of the “new normal”.

The event will be followed by the 18th Annual BMDA conference "Multidisciplinary Approach In Business And Education To Assure High Competitiveness", which will take place on October 14-16, 2020 in Tallinn. This year BMDA is offering a new concept of the event, applying a multidisciplinary approach to enhance  business and business education competitiveness.
