In 2014, the RME Research Conference series was initiated by the PRME Regional Chapter DACH in collaboration with the University of Applied Science of the Grisons and the PRME Anti-poverty Working Group. To date, seven conferences have been held all around the world in various cities from Nanjing, China to Jönköping, Sweden. Our last conference took place online at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons due to the actual pandemic we all have to face. Our colleagues did an amazing job and we all hope that at least a hybrid format is possible for our 8th RME Research Conference taking place in Suzhou, China.

The ongoing COVID19 pandemic crisis has revealed once again that the world needs to work together to effectively face major global challenges and respond in a way that will contribute to advancing the SDGs and 2030 Agenda. In this context, responsible management education could and should play an even more important role. Universities all around the world are asked to educate our future leaders who are capable of finding innovative solutions for the challenges our economic world has to face. Being positioned as SDG#1, while also interdependent and interconnected with the other SDGs, poverty alleviation is, not only symbolically, exposed as a starting point for a more complex, multidimensional and multidisciplinary thinking and dialogue about what is meant by prosperity and a better world, as well as about how to proceed with the advancement of the SDGs and Agenda 2030.

The main goal of the global 8th RMER Conference is to bring together responsible management education community and its different stakeholders to address these issues in a way that covers all the six principles that RME stands for: purpose, values, method, research, dialogue, and partnerships. Therefore, the 8th RME research conference will be held in China, where the successful accomplishment of the National 5-year poverty alleviation plan shows that high aspirations are achievable. This further adds to already traditional inspirational, multidisciplinary and multicultural spirit of the 8th RME Research Conference and its contribution to mutual sharing and learning among management educators and all relevant stakeholders.

Researchers and Practitioners are invited to contribute from a wide range of disciplinary traditions that explore responsible management issues from both conceptual and practical perspectives, and we encourage contributions, which are multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary in nature. Contributions to the conference, i.e. to its streams, can be submitted in the form of abstracts (up to 200 words), extended abstracts (up to 1,000 words), working papers (research-in-progress)(up to 2,500words) or full papers (up to 6,000 words, excluding references).
