HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, founded in 1898 as Germany’s oldest business school, opens a new Full-time MBA | AI in September 2027. The program answers a question companies keep asking: who turns an AI idea into something that actually runs in the business?
Alongside the general management core, students take 40 ECTS of artificial intelligence across four modules. They start with their first line of Python, work with real business data and train their own models. They learn how large language models work and automate three business processes end to end, for example invoice processing. They turn a language model into an AI agent and deploy it to the cloud. An optional module covers how to get an organization to adopt AI and where AI should change the business.
No coding experience is needed to start. Graduates do not become software engineers. Because they have built AI themselves, they can judge use cases first-hand, work with engineers as equals and lead AI projects, whether as project leads, consultants, business leaders or founders.
The AI modules are taught by faculty of the HHL AI & Business Institute, including Prof. Dr. Florian Ellsaesser (Cambridge PhD, former McKinsey, founder of AI-based start-ups) and Dr. Levente Szabados (20 years in technical AI, CTO and Head of Research for AI start-ups). Practitioners from cloud architecture, process automation and HR transformation teach in every AI module. The curriculum was reviewed by senior industry leaders before launch.
The MBA | AI joins HHL’s full-time and part-time programs in management, finance and entrepreneurship, its MBA tracks in General Management and Finance, and its doctoral program.
