Crisis vs. Sustainability: Impact of COVID-19 on CSR and Sustainability in CEE

Authors: Jennifer A. Pope, Rok Ramšak, Astrid Sheil

Project Description:

We're conducting a research project examining how organizations in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) are responding to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic/supply crises through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability initiatives. Our aim is to provide valuable insights to help organizations better prepare for future crises.

Objectives:

  1. Investigate CSR and sustainability practices adopted by for-profit and non-profit organizations in CEE.
  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in navigating crises and achieving organizational resilience.
  3. Provide recommendations for organizations based on the study findings.

Methodology:

We'll employ a multi-case study approach, interviewing top management from locally-owned or CEE-headquartered organizations. Interviews will focus on CSR and sustainability strategies implemented during the pandemic and subsequent crises.

Participation:

We invite CEOs or top sustainability officers from both for-profit and non-profit organizations to participate in this study. Your contribution will involve a 60-75 minute Zoom interview, recorded and transcribed for analysis. Confidentiality and data security will be ensured throughout the process.

How to Participate:

If interested, please contact Jennifer A. Pope at popeje@gvsu.edu or Jennifer.Pope@iedc.si to schedule an interview at your convenience. We'll provide further details and an informed consent letter prior to the interview.

Your insights are invaluable in shaping our understanding of CSR and sustainability strategies in the face of crisis. Thank you for considering participation in this important study.
