He passed peacefully on February 23 after health concerns that had kept him in the hospital since January 2. He leaves behind his father Andres, his brother Hector, and countless friends and colleagues from around the world who loved and respected him.
“Andy’s commitment and dedication to ACBSP has left a permanent imprint on our organization,” said Jeffrey Alderman, ACBSP President/CEO. “We would not be where we are today if not for his countless contributions. We will forever miss our dear colleague and friend.”
Saucedo’s involvement with ACBSP is extensive, and goes back to the early 1990s, when he began teaching at Doña Ana Community College and led the journey of having the Business and Information Division at the college join ACBSP and later apply for accreditation. He was passionate about his students, starting Enactus and Kappa Beta Delta chapters at the college. He designed many courses for the Business and Marketing Department, reviewed textbooks for business publishers as well as created textbook test banks.
He was the 1999 Teaching Excellence Award recipient for ACBSP Region 6, representing associate degree schools. He served as the Sam Walton Fellow for Enactus at the college. He served on the national ETS committee, assisting in designing a two-year national business capstone exam for associate degree schools. Saucedo also previously served as president of the Kappa Beta Delta Board of Directors, the ACBSP Associate Degree Board of Commissioners and the ACBSP Board of Directors.
“Andy has left his handprint on ACBSP and will be remembered for his wisdom and vision for this association,” said Dewayne Thompson, Chair-elect of the ACBSP Board of Directors. Thompson will fulfill the remainder of Saucedo’s term.
The Board has announced that the Andy C. Saucedo Memorial Scholarship will be presented for the first time at ACBSP Conference 2016 in Atlanta this June to honor Saucedo’s many years of service to ACBSP.
