In 2013, the philosophy of selfless service gave rise to the Art of Giving, a global movement founded by Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS. The initiative celebrates giving in all its forms and is observed annually on 17 May. Over time, it has grown into a worldwide movement spanning more than 100 countries, encouraging people to give not only money, but also their time, care, knowledge, and compassion.

Recognised with the MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship, the initiative aligns closely with the values of the United Nations, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 16, by fostering empathy, social cohesion, and inclusive communities.

The 2026 theme, “Share to Shine,” reflects the idea that acts of giving create meaningful impact for both the recipient and the giver. It emphasizes that when individuals and communities share what they have, they help create collective well-being and positive change.

In this spirit, organisations are invited to participate in the global movement by hosting an Art of Giving event between 15–20 May 2026. Events may include simple acts of volunteering or giving, discussions on philanthropy and social impact, or reflections on the practice and meaning of giving within their own communities.

Supporting materials, including digital banners and a short video, are available for use in promoting and facilitating these events. Participants are kindly encouraged to confirm their participation and to share photographs or videos documenting their activities.

This invitation offers an opportunity to contribute to a global culture of giving and to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism and civic engagement, in alignment with international efforts to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
