On December 11, the university hosted a roundtable with exchange students from prestigious French institutions such as IÉSEG School of Management, Léonard de Vinci, and Emlyon Business School. Students shared their academic experiences, highlighted Kazakh hospitality, and celebrated the cultural richness of Almaty. The event strengthened international ties, with attendees including representatives from the France-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the French Alliance in Almaty.
December 12 marked AlmaU’s 36th anniversary, celebrated in traditional Kazakh style under the theme “Altyn Shanyrak* – AlmaU 36 years” The event reflected on the university's journey, with highlights from top management of AlmaU on recent achievements, including international accreditations and initiatives like the MasterCard Academya and the Silk Road School.
Guests were welcomed by a beautifully adorned yurt, and the festive atmosphere was filled with the sounds of the kobyz and a Kazakh instrumental orchestra. Traditional motifs were present everywhere, from the decor to the attire of the participants. Clothes with national elements highlighted the cultural heritage of the country.
The following day, AlmaU hosted the V International Conference "Public Trust and Social Capital," organized in collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences. The conference became an important platform for exchanging ideas, research, and best practices in the field of public trust and social capital. During the meeting, key issues related to strengthening trust and cooperation in various spheres of public life were discussed, including public administration and collaboration between different sectors of society.
Culminating these events was the Smart City Almaty Challenge hackathon on December 25. Organized by AlmaU’s Center for Interdisciplinary Programs, this competition brought together 35 student teams to propose innovative solutions for urban challenges. Projects ranged from AI-driven traffic management to IoT-based environmental monitoring.
These events highlight AlmaU’s role as a hub of innovation, academic excellence, and cultural exchange.
