The Global Faculty Programme, a flagship international academic initiative of KIIT Deemed to be University, Odisha, India, hosted Dr. Soula Kyriakou, Co-Founder and President of the International Executive School, France, for an intensive academic, community and cultural engagement from 15 to 26 January 2025. The twelve-day visit enabled interdisciplinary teaching, dialogue and institutional interaction across KIIT University and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences.

Designed to strengthen global academic exchange, interdisciplinary learning and socially responsible education, the Global Faculty Programme brings distinguished international scholars and practitioners to engage directly with students, faculty and communities. During her visit to KIIT University, Dr. Kyriakou delivered an extensive series of lectures and workshops across the Schools of Film and Media Sciences, Mass Communication, Computer Engineering, Fashion Technology, Design and Management. Her sessions addressed socially responsible communication, design thinking for storytelling, ethical and human-centred artificial intelligence, multicultural and global design perspectives, sustainable fashion systems, global branding and cultural intelligence, CSR-driven entrepreneurship and responsible AI in marketing thereby encouraging critical thinking, creativity and ethical leadership among diverse undergraduate and postgraduate learners.

Her engagement also included interactive sessions with Indigenous children at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS)–Deemed to be University, focusing on mind mapping and wellness to foster self-expression, emotional well-being and holistic learning within a culturally responsive environment. The visit further incorporated cultural immersion across Odisha, including engagement with regional arts and crafts at the Odisha Crafts Museum, a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Konark Sun Temple and participation in Republic Day celebrations deepening appreciation of India’s cultural diversity alongside academic collaboration.

In addition, Dr. Kyriakou served as a distinguished speaker at the national seminar titled “KISS vis-à-vis the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Advancing India’s SDG Agenda through Transformative Education, Volunteerism, and Community-Centred Action,” organised at KIIT and KISS in association with NITI Aayog, where she shared global perspectives on holistic, human-centred education and its role in advancing sustainable development.

Importantly, this engagement reflects the growing international academic networks cultivated through platforms such as the CEEMAN, where meaningful institutional connections have enabled sustained global collaboration, cross-learning and faculty exchange. The Global Faculty Programme thus serves as a strategic bridge linking international partnerships with community-centred education and research, reinforcing KIIT and KISS’s commitment to globally connected, socially responsive and knowledge-sharing higher education.
