The European Commission has selected International Business School at Vilnius University and 6 additional institutions to develop a learning programme to accelerate Innovation, Creativity and Talent. The consortium includes different experts from Spain, UK, Holland, Poland and Lithuania and will be developed during 2013 to be launched to the market in 2014.
Europe is focusing on promoting Innovation, Creativity & Talent in small and medium enterprises (SME) of strategic sectors, like Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), as a key lever for economic development.
In the light of challenges that the European Union faces in strengthening its competitiveness in global markets, the European Commission launched an initiative to help small and medium information and communications technology firms to develop their competitive advantages via Innovation, Creativity and Talent.
Taking into consideration that small and medium enterprises represent 99% of all companies in the EU and that innovation-driven ICT sector contributes with 5% to the EU GDP, the European Union needs to support its ICT firms in overcoming issues like limited resources, weak expertise in talent development or commercialization of innovations. The European Commission recognises the critical importance of the ICT SME sector as a regional growth engine and is keen to promote innovation, creativity and talent. It recognises that not all such companies are equipped to grow rapidly either at a local or global level and thus seeks to provide positive interventions that will enhance capabilities.
The consortium of seven well-reputed European organizations selected by the European Commission (ESADE Business School, ESADECREAPOLIS, International Business School at Vilnius University, Technical University of Gdansk, Camrass & Company, Octrium and Dept. Economic Development Pomorskie Region) intend to develop a learning programme to contribute to the competitiveness by promoting innovation, creativity and talent of small and medium information and communications technology enterprises. The partners will construct learning programmes to enable small and medium sized businesses to acquire new skills and competencies. It will also seek further partners to help with the dissemination of such learning programmes on a commercial basis.
Bearing in mind that ICT sector currently experiences an on-going evolution with such trends as e-commerce, cloud computing, mobility and consumerization, many small and medium sized companies need to transform the landscape due to their agility and responsiveness. Innovation, creativity and talent are necessary to be employed along with innovative management and education. Thus, the 7 partners are ready to show the best of their countries’ efforts, and ESADECREAPOLIS (put your own organization) is one of them.
