It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lyubov Yakovleva, an active member of CEEMAN and a respected pioneer and leader in management education. Born on May 16, 1953, in Donetsk, and passing on February 6, 2025, in the Moscow Region, Lyubov’s influence in higher education spanned more than four decades and left a lasting legacy. Lyubov was among the first to establish undergraduate management programs in her region, helping shape the future of leadership education. After earning her degree in Economics from Donetsk State University in 1975, she obtained a PhD in Labor Studies in 1986 from Moscow Regional Pedagogical University. Her career led her to key roles, including Assistant Professor at the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology (1988–1993) and, later, Deputy Rector and then Rector of the Institute of International Business Education (1992–2013). Under her leadership, the institute became a recognized center of excellence in leadership and business studies.

CEEMAN President Danica Purg visited Lyubov Yakovleva at her university: "I admired her students, and invited some of them to continue their studies at IEDC Bled School of Management. They were all like her children, educated in the best spirit,” remembers Danica.

Lyubov’s contributions were acknowledged internationally. She was named an Honorary Citizen of Tulsa in both 1991 and 1995 and was awarded the title of Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education in Russia in 2002.

She was a prolific academic, publishing on leadership theory, crisis management, and international business, while also mentoring students and professionals. Throughout her career, she participated in numerous global conferences and seminars, sharing her expertise and continuously refining her understanding of leadership and teamwork.

Colleagues and students remember Lyubov as a dedicated and inspiring leader, known for her wisdom, integrity, and commitment to education. Outside of her professional life, she was a proud and caring wife, mother, and grandmother of three, finding great joy in her family.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. Lyubov Yakovleva's legacy will continue to guide and inspire us through the lives she impacted and the knowledge she shared. May her dedication to learning and leadership remain a lasting example to us all.
