Both formats aim to rethink traditional approaches to higher education by promoting experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and greater student involvement in shaping the learning process.
On 26 October 2026, the University launched its Regional Living Lab, "Campus Living Lab – Co-Play&Create". The initiative transforms the university campus into a space for research, experimentation and collaborative problem-solving.
Students explore how campus spaces can become more accessible, functional and welcoming. Combining perspectives from spatial planning, management and urban sociology, participants conduct field research, use GIS and digital mapping tools, and investigate the needs of different campus users.
A central element is the participatory approach. Students will engage members of the university community in workshops to discuss research findings, identify challenges and jointly explore possible improvements. This enables students to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing research, analytical and collaborative skills.

The Student-Led Courses initiative takes a different but complementary approach by enabling students to design and deliver their own courses under the guidance of academic mentors.
On 3 November 2026, the University launched "How to Manage Green Events", a student-designed and student-led course focusing on sustainable event management. Participants explore the environmental, social and economic dimensions of event organisation, addressing issues such as sustainable transport, catering, waste management, resource consumption and accessibility.
The format creates opportunities for students to move beyond traditional learning roles, share their expertise and develop teaching, leadership and organisational skills. It also draws on the benefits of peer-to-peer learning, where students learn from one another through shared experiences, collaboration and active engagement, fostering a more participatory and effective learning environment. It encourages new perspectives and educational ideas to become part of the university's learning environment.

Although different in their methods, both initiatives reflect a common commitment to student empowerment, sustainability and practice-oriented education. Through BAUHAUS4EU, the University of Economics in Katowice is exploring new ways of connecting academic learning with practical challenges, encouraging students to become active contributors to education and university development.
