Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics Robert J. Shiller was awarded Honorary Professorship of ISM University of Management and Economics during his visit in Lithuania.
Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics Robert J. Shiller was awarded Honorary Professorship of ISM University of Management and Economics during his visit in Lithuania. The award ceremony was held at ISM University before the only open lecture delivered by the academic Finance and the Good Society.
 
"It is a great honour to accept this sign of recognition of ISM University of Management and Economics and the entire Lithuanian academic community. I am happy that from now on I can visit ISM and will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of the welfare of the country that is extremely important to me and the development of the young generation. This is a great responsibility and commitment but I am grateful for the opportunity to see the progress of Lithuania and be a part of it", – Nobel Prize Winner Robert J. Shiller said.
  
The Honorary Professorship award ceremony to Robert J. Shiller was observed by famous Lithuanian scholars, politicians, business association representatives, opinion leaders, representatives of NGOs, most talented Lithuanian students and pupils. More than 500 people watched the ceremony, economists Gitanas Nausėda, Žygimantas Mauricas, head of Invest in Lithuania Milda Dargužaitė, former Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas, US Lithuanian Jūratė Kazickaitė, the Norwegian Ambassador in Lithuania, Advisor to the President on Education Virginija Būdienė, among them. The regalia to Robert J. Shiller were handed over by Rector of ISM University of Management and Economics dr. Nerijus Pačėsa.
 
"The contribution of Robert J. Shiller into the global economic development is incontestable: his ideas and theories have found place in the textbooks of economics, his insights have been recognised by the major global leaders. This scholar knows how to put complicated principles of financial and economic functioning in simple and powerful words, he can also relate them to a better vision of the society. We believe that this cooperation will become a beautiful tradition and will boost not only Lithuanian academic but also political and economic potential", ISM rector dr. Nerijus Pačėsa emphasized.
 
Robert J. Shiller is one of the most prominent global economists who has been analysing contemporary finance development trends. The works of the professor have been recognised as part of the global economic history, the books he has published have become bestsellers. Robert J, Shiller's presentations are among the most wanted in the global economic forums, he is consulted by the most powerful leaders. Robert J, Shiller was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2013.
 
The visit of Robert J. Shiller to Lithuania was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
