Prof. Purg, President of CEEMAN, writes a letter of support to the Ukrainian academic community, condemns violence, and calls for peace, cooperation, and solidarity.
Dear Ukrainian friends,

This is my second letter to you, this time a public one. I am heartbroken over the situation you are in and there is no doubt that we in CEEMAN condemn the Russian invasion of your country.

The terrible war situation is making people desperate, scared and courageous at the same time. The world is admiring your courage and willingness to fight for your freedom. And Europe is (finally) coming together to support your struggle, and trying to unify all who are for freedom, wherever they live.

CEEMAN was established in politically conflicting period 30 years ago and our members were building bridges between nations with challenging historical past ever since. We also remember the situation from more recent times when CEEMAN members were the first ones to show courage and acted towards overcoming the crisis between countries in different parts of the world.

In CEEMAN, we believe in cooperation, peace and solidarity. Let us demonstrate it this time, too! We hope that Ukraine will be free soon again.

On behalf of CEEMAN family,
Yours,
Danica Purg
CEEMAN President
