ISM University of Management and Economics is to offer a course called Microeconomics of Competitiveness: Firms, Clusters, and Economic Development. This course was developed by Professor Michael Porter of the prestigious Harvard Business School. Mr Porter is one of the world’s top experts on strategic management. This is the first programme to be offered in Lithuania by the prestigious business school.

Prof. dr hab. Irena E. Kotowska, Head of Demography Department in the Institute of Statistics and Demography at the Collegium of Economic Analysis at the Warsaw School of Economics, has been selected to be one of 12 experts for cooperation with Europe 2020: Social Policies department at Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. The thinktank was appointed by EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion László Andor.

Jarosław Niewierowicz, CEO of LitPol Link and a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), has been appointed the Minister of Energy in the government of the Republic of Lithuania. The appointment took place on December 13, 2012. He is the first Polish minister in the Lithaunian government - his candidacy was proposed by the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (AWPL).

EU Business School Geneva and Montreux students recently had the opportunity to hear from Dr. R. Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank at the Four Seasons, Hotel des Bergues in Geneva. His two-hour presentation on investment management brought together over 25 MBA students from the two campuses to learn what it means to be an investment manager and the basic principles guiding the practice.

On Wednesday, October 24th, 2012, Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands visited the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) to meet the students and talk to them about climate protection issues. She gave a lecture on climate as a new priority for CSR strategies giving also examples how Dutch companies have implemented these strategies.
