Polish Olympic Studies and Research Centre established

The first such center in Poland, the Polish Centre for Olympic Studies and Research was inaugurated on December 12th at the University of Warsaw, marking the commencement of collaborative efforts between the university and the Polish Olympic Committee for Olympic Studies and Research.

The primary goal of the Centre is to facilitate knowledge transfer and collaboration between the sports and academic communities. "We aim to establish master's degree programmes in sports management, likely launching in 2025," stated Dr. Grzegorz Botwina, the director of the unit at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation, highlighting their joint efforts with other centers in Europe and around the world, as well as collaborations with universities, ministries, and government agencies responsible for sports.

The inauguration event, organized by the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw and the Polish Olympic Committee, saw the participation of representatives from the sports and education sectors, authorities from the university and its faculty, as well as Olympians.

During the three panel discussions, topics such as the role of education in sports, potential educational paths for future sports managers, the dual careers of athletes, and effective sports management were addressed.
The event received honorary patronage from the Minister of Sport and Tourism and the Minister of Education and Science.
