The current Rector of Estonian Business School (EBS) Arno Almann will begin his second term as rector, having received over half of the votes from the EBS Senate meeting.

According to Mart Habakuk, chairman of the board of OÜ EBS Education, the choice was driven by the candidate’s clear vision for the forthcoming changes at EBS. “To keep pace with the challenges of the digital society and labour market developments, EBS will make a number of changes in the near future. To tackle these challenges and keep up with the trend of internationalisation, master’s studies at EBS will be completely revamped; we are transitioning to a new e-study platform and will continue to modernise our study environment,” said Habakuk, and expressed his satisfaction with the Senate’s decision, saying that Arno Almann had extensive experience in managing current and forthcoming changes.

“The goal of EBS is to offer the best and most competitive business education in the Baltic and Nordic countries. To achieve this goal, EBS has the opportunity and the obligation to be the only private university in Estonia to lead the changes in the field of higher education. We continue to develop all our curricula in Tallinn and Helsinki, based on the needs of the changed business environment, so as to offer our students the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in a digital society. I am sure that EBS’s results over its thirty years of operation, the success of our graduates and the implementation of our plans will guarantee us a firm place among the top league of European business universities,” said Professor Arno Almann, Rector of EBS.

Two people forwarded their candidacy for the election of EBS rector: the current rector Professor Arno Almann, and Professor Peeter Müürsepp of the School of Business and Governance at Tallinn University of Technology. According to EBS Rector’s Statute, the electoral body set up by EBS assembled on 11 May to hear both candidates and their development visions for EBS until 2021. The electoral body decided to submit the candidacy of the current rector Professor Arno Almann to the EBS Senate for a vote of confidence. At today’s vote of confidence, the current rector Professor Arno Almann received over half of the votes and will begin his second term of office in autumn.

The rector’s term of office will begin on 1 September and last five years.
