From October 13 to 17, 2025, he International Staff Week (ISW) at RTU FEEM brought together nearly 30 higher education professionals from 13 countries, creating a vibrant platform for academic and administrative staff to exchange experience, strengthen partnerships, and explore innovative approaches to teaching and research. Centered on the theme “Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education,” the event fostered dynamic discussions on how AI and sustainability can reshape the future of learning and institutional development.
Participants took part in lectures, discussions, and collaborative workshops that encouraged knowledge sharing across cultures and disciplines. Experts from Europe and Asia explored pressing topics such as the role of artificial intelligence in education, sustainable development strategies, and the ongoing digital transformation of universities. The week underscored RTU FEEM’s dedication to promoting global academic cooperation and advancing responsible, human-centered innovation in higher education.
A major highlight of the week was the annual Scientific Conference on Economics and Entrepreneurship (SCEE’2025) “Transforming Entrepreneurship and Education for a Sustainable and Secure Future in the Digital Age.” The event gathered more than 100 international researchers and professionals, offering a dynamic forum for presenting and debating interdisciplinary research in economics, management, and technology.
Keynote speakers and thematic sessions focused on entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers in addressing global challenges. The conference once again demonstrated how international research cooperation can drive innovation and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.
Beyond academic exchange, ISW participants also experienced Latvia’s rich cultural heritage through social and networking activities that strengthened interpersonal connections and mutual understanding — essential elements of meaningful international collaboration.
Reflecting on the week, RTU FEEM Vice-Dean for Research, Dr. Inga Jēkabsone, emphasized: “These events reaffirm the essential role of universities as drivers of sustainable and digital transitions. By engaging in international dialogue and research collaboration, we broaden our perspectives and create real impact for society.”
Bringing together representatives from more than 20 countries across Europe and Asia, both the International Staff Week and SCEE’2025 highlighted RTU FEEM’s dedication to global academic cooperation, interdisciplinary research, and sustainable innovation in higher education.
