SGH Warsaw School of Economics Celebrates 110th Anniversary

SGH day celebrations of April 3 inaugurated the 110th anniversary of the Warsaw School of Economics.
On April 3, the official session of SGH Senate inaugurated the annual SGH Day celebrations, which gathered many distinguished guests. The event was the key element of the 110th anniversary celebrations of Poland’s oldest economics university.

HM SGH Rector prof.Tomasz Szapiro extended a warm welcome university authorities from Poland and abroad, local and state government representatives, as well as representatives of public institutions and the business world, but most importantly: students, graduates, employees and friends of SGH. Advisor to the Polish President read Andrzej Duda’s congratulations letters. Prime minister of the Republic of Poland Beata Szydło and Speaker of the Polish Parliament Marek Kuchciński had also sent their letters of congratulations and anniversary wishes.

Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin delivered a short speech on the high quality of research conducted by SGH faculty and the outstanding input in educating specialists that shaped the transformation of Polish economy. Minister Gowin also announced an investment government grant of 25 million Polish złoty.

Masovia Voivodeship Marshall Adam Struzik presented a commemorative medal “Pro Masovia” that the School had been awarded to SGH Rector prof.Tomasz Szapiro, and certificates of appreciation to SGH employees.


In his speech, SGH Rector prof.Tomasz Szapiro highlighted the shared goals of the academic world in Poland: to attract students from around the world and to conduct research overcoming limitations and obstacles.
