Samat Musin, an international-class sports master, was the champion of the 1996 III Winter Asian Games in Harbin and a multiple winner of Kazakhstan's national championships. Nikolai Ivanov, a participant in the XVII and XVIII Winter Olympic Games, was also a frequent winner and medalist in national championships. Both athletes were born and raised in Lobanovo village, serving as role models for the new generation of skiers.
Participants covered a two-kilometer route through a picturesque winter forest. The main goal of the event was to promote skiing, draw attention to the rich natural and cultural heritage of the region, and showcase the tourism potential of the Ayyrtau district. This area is known for its scenic landscapes, dense forests, and favorable conditions for developing tourism, including winter sports and outdoor recreation.
AlmaU President Assylbek Kozhakmetov emphasized the importance of the event: "The trail once walked by the renowned Kazakh skier Samat Musin is coming to life again, becoming a gathering place for all sports enthusiasts. We are proud to reveal the rich sports and tourism potential of the Ayyrtau district, promoting a healthy lifestyle and nurturing a new generation of champions. I am convinced that such initiatives not only develop sports but also help form a strong civil society."
Deputy Akim of the North Kazakhstan region, Zhusup Zhumagulov, highlighted the significance of such initiatives for the development of the region and thanked the organizers for the high level of the event. The Deputy Akim also participated in the race, completing the entire course alongside other participants.
The Northern Ski Race "Ski Trail of Musin-Ivanov" became an example of how sports and culture unite people, inspire achievements, and provide unforgettable emotions.
