Luis Javier Pentón Herrera is a professor at the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw, an English teacher and a coordinator of the Graduate TESOL Certificate at George Washington University in the United States. Additionally, he is a Fulbright Specialist and an English language specialist at the US Department of State. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the 38th TESOL President in Maryland, attaining the rank of Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
The TESOL Teacher of the Year Award, presented by National Geographic Learning, was established by TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and National Geographic Learning with the objective of recognizing and honouring exceptional English language teachers at all levels.
