In the period from 1 June 2018 to 30 September 2019, the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business carried out the Erasmus+ Project under Key Action 103 - Mobility Project for Higher Education Students and Staff. The aim of the project pertaining to students going abroad to learn was to provide them with access to international mobility and enable them to complete part of their program at the partner universities from the EU Member States. This has translated directly into the students’ more thorough preparation to tackle the challenges posed by socio-economic changes in contemporary Europe, taking account of social justice and respect for the cultural distinctiveness of the Member States, while at the same time maintaining their own sense of identity and strengthening the skill of active functioning in the European social and economic space. The goal of the project in its part concerning traineeship was to give trainees hands-on experience of the European labour market, allow them to use the theoretical knowledge gained during their studies, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and acquire the skills to work in the professional background different from their own. With regard to academic teachers the objective of the project was to enable them to mark their presence in the academic environment at the partner universities, have a new experience of teaching, develop their own skills and make better use of their scientific and educational potential and foster the European dimension in their work with students. For non-academic staff the purpose of the project was to become familiar with good practices adopted at the partner universities in Europe, exchange experience and work using the human potential effectively, implement the Lifelong Learning message, get to know the process of developing own skills, and transfer the acquired experience to their home university. The implementation of the project was in line with the key foundations of the internationalisation strategy of the Wroclaw University of Economics, which includes promoting the international activity consisting in the exchange of students and academic staff, stimulating international activity and achievements of research and teaching staff, creating the image of the Wroclaw University of Economics as a modern higher education institution functioning within the European scientific and educational space. The Wroclaw University of Economics implemented the project for the following types of mobility: SMS – 149 participants, including 13 financed from the funds of the PO WER Program (students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Faculty of Management, Computer Science and Finance, Faculty of Economics, Management and Tourism, and Faculty of Engineering and Economics, with different majors and levels of study), SMP – eight participants, including one financed from the funds of the PO WER Program (the same student profile as for SMS), STA – 67 participants (research and teaching staff representing various scientific fields), STT - 13 participants (the International Cooperation Centre staff, and research and teaching staff). The project was carried out in accordance with the basic assumptions described in the ECHE Charter, including the principle of equal treatment for all mobility participants, establishment of clear recruitment rules, ongoing mobility monitoring and appeal procedures. The direct effects of the project implementation comprise the intensification of international exchange of students and staff within the European programs and development of the educational offer in English at all levels of education and in various forms of studies. The project implementation has also resulted in an increase in international activity in the area of research, including greater participation in European research projects and programs, expansion of international cooperation in the field of exchange of scientific staff as well as promotion of international activity and achievements of the University’s students and staff. The implementation of European projects enhances the image of the Wroclaw University of Economics as a modern higher education institution strongly embedded in the European scientific and educational space, which affects the quality of the University’s cooperation not only with its closest economic and social environment, but also with universities and scientific centres worldwide. During the project implementation, the University was a party to 198 inter-institutional Erasmus agreements with partners from the Program countries. The Wroclaw University of Economics has been participating in the Erasmus Program since 1999, owing to which numerous Departments and
Institutes of the University have signed long-term cooperation agreements with partners not only from Europe but also from around the world, resulting in the implementation of joint scientific ventures.
