The eighth annual EU Business School Asia Commencement Ceremony was held, for the first time in Kota Kinabalu at the Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa on April 19, 2014.

On April 7, 2014 International Academy of Business hosted a lecture organized as part of a joint project made by IAB and kaspi bank Flight over the Horizon*! A series of lectures under this name is being held at IAB between April 7 and 30 as part of cooperation between the bank and the university under kaspi bank’s initiative About Finances in Simple Terms.

Over 25 members of students and staff of International Academy of Business will join the Almaty Marathon Courage to be the First on 20 April. The 42 km 195 m. route will start at the First President’s Park and finish at the Central Stadium, traversing a few milestones including the Esentai River, Al-Farabi Avenue, Sain and Abay streets.

Nearly 150 people have been working for more than one year in order to produce the first international knowledge test on sustainable development. The “sustainability literacy test” is a multiple choice questionnaire of 50 online questions evaluating basic knowledge of sustainable development issues, and individual and corporate responsibility. At no charge for any student enrolled in a higher education institution, the test is designed to be used at any level (bachelor, master, MBA, PhD...) regardless of the type of study pursued (engineer, manager, lawyer, biologist, architect ...)

For the second year in a row, five students of UNYP won the prestigious CFA Research Challenge and will represent Czech Republic in the Regional European Finale in Italy in April.

Kazakhstan’s stated focus on knowledge economy, innovative and industrial development, accession to world’s 30 most competitive countries can be made a reality only with a powerful educational system, settled cooperation linking business and universities, high quality of graduate specialists and many other variables. The newly opened Higher School of Teaching Excellence at International Academy of Business is designed to resolve these and other issues by improving teaching skills.

On March 13, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and first Russian marketing department had the honor to host the world famous marketing guru – professor Philip Kotler. His visit to Plekhanov University of Economics happened because he knows the activities of Plekhanov marketing department in studying the evolution of Russian marketing thoughts, and also the investigation of professor Kotler’s impact on marketing development in Soviet Union and Russia.

IAB students have been given an opportunity to leave their CVs with representatives of companies, get consultancy over possible future employment and have a preliminary job interview. The event was organised by the Academy’s Careers Planning Centre on March 27, 2014

The Soros Foundation has visited IAB to explain the purpose of its Public Policy Initiative and said that 10 best candidates who send their applications by 11pm Astana time on March 20 would enjoy two career-advancing workshops mentored by leading international and local public policy experts. The seminars will focus on policy analysis, data visualisation and development of advocacy tools to help them use the new knowledge in preparing analytical policy papers in 15 topic areas determined by the initiative groups.
