We were saddened to receive the news that Prof. Ruth Alas, Head of Management Department at the Estonian Business School, has passed away on January 23 at the age of 57. For the last year and a half, she was fighting cancer while still keeping as active as possible with her teaching and research work.

The Balkans and Black Sea Cooperation Forum is an independent, non-governmental, non-partisan economic platform powered by private and public institutions and supported by a number of international and regional organizations, aiming at identifying, strengthening, and promoting economic relations, business opportunities, cross‐border cooperation, and sustainable growth and development across the Balkans, the Black Sea region, and beyond.

Prof. Danica Purg, Dean and President of IEDC-Bled School of Management and CEEMAN, gave a lecture on management development needs in the Central and Eastern European region. She presented recent research findings and highlighted the latest trends in management education. The lecture was attended by 41 human resource management specialist and Primož Šeligo, Slovenia's ambassador to Russia.

The respected Professor and public intellectual has passed away.

Dear friends, I am writing these words just before the holiday season, proud of what CEEMAN achieved in 2017.

"Society and the business sector have faced different challenges, characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. To tackle these challenges management education institutions have to develop managers and leaders who will be able to lead necessary changes in the business sector and in society, and make a difference that is desperately needed. To accomplish this mission management education institutions have to become change agents themselves and introduce a new model of management education, dedicated to educational offerings and research activities relevant to the needs and challenges of their stakeholders and respective environments". In 2018 CEEMAN is celebrating 25 years of our association. On this occasion, we are starting a series of articles, interviews, and other contributions dedicated to our association. We think that a quarter of a century of existence is a good opportunity to assess our achievements, identify areas where we could do better, and discuss guidelines for the future, which we outlined to be better able to meet the challenges of the fast-changing world that business and management schools are facing.

Some 20 participants left Bled satisfied with what they heard and learned, but fully aware of all the challenges that are ahead of educational institutions,if they want to meet the needs of a digitalized world.
