CEEMAN’s 18h Annual Conference “New Global Performance Challenges: Implications for Management Development” was held on 23-25 September 2010 in Caserta, Italy, hosted by Coca-Cola HBC Italia. Over 150 participants from 36 countries gathered to discuss how to achieve and sustain competitiveness while contributing to sustainable development and socially responsible leadership.

CEEMAN’s 17th Annual Conference was held on 24-26 September 2009 in Riga, Latvia, hosted by Riga School of Economics and Business Administration (RISEBA). It was attended by 130 participants from 30 countries, discussing the theme of the conference was “Local Responses to Global Crisis”.

The survey, conducted by CEEMAN in 2009, assesses how business schools perceive the global crisis and its impact on business education and leadership development. In this respect the survey will also examine business schools’ responses in terms of innovations in areas critical for their customer focus such as faculty development, research, and the development of an educational portfolio that meets the changing demand and needs of schools’ learning partners.

CEEMAN’s 16th Annual Conference “Management Education for the Realities of Emerging Markets” was held on 25-27 September 2008 in Tirana, Albania, hosted by Albanian Center for Management Services, Tirana in cooperation with Albania Experience, AVIS Rent-a-Car, and POLIS University. More than 100 participants from 27 countries gathered to discuss what kind of management education is needed to support the emerging markets in their efforts to achieve and sustain competitive advantage in the globalizing world economy.

The research project on 'the Assessment of Management Training Needs at the Achieved Level of Transition' was implemented by the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN) and was sponsored by the European Training Foundation. Conducted in two phases in 1998 and 2000, the project covered selected enterprises in nine countries: Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation, and Slovenia (1998); and Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary and Ukraine (2000). It concentrates on the issue of management training needs in manufacturing and service sector enterprises, with the aim of understanding training processes, approaches and practice in order to evaluate how training has been used as a response to evolving business needs and how it can be further developed in the future.
